Mr. Thompson may not be wrong in that our market has been better than most of the country our values have only GONE DOWN 20-25%, Not 50%. So how does that warrant increases in Market Value and tax increases.

It is bad...especially when you see such a high amount going to schools and you, by law, can't have kids because your single. Wonder if I appeal if they would drop that tax off?

Its going to get to a point where peoples paychecks are going to show a negative dollar amount. But we cant write hot checks like our government can.

Aren't citizens supposed to vote on something like that???? Property taxes are high enough EVERYWHERE in AR...The average Arkansan can't afford decent acreage and a decent house b/c they'll have to pay 30% of their annual salary in property taxes...God forbid you save all your life and finally get the American dream only to have most of your retirement go to property taxes...AR, one of the highest taxed states yet nothing really to show for except bad roads and bad schools..

Don;t know about LR&Pul county school taxes but the stupid people on NLR voted for tax increase for schools and now another increase ,serves them right,and oh because of their[NLR school board and the TIF thing]Little Rock is getting a Bass Pro store that could have neen in NLR,what goes around always comes back on you NLR.

Living on the south side of 630, there's no way the value of my home increased $20K in one year! These people are nuts!

When you go in the Revenue Office to pay your taxes, you've seen the sign that shows where our taxes go. Most goes to the schools. They must need more dough for buses, administrative costs ( 3 school districts in 1 county? With Jax wanting to add a 4th ), and legal fees for the so called "desegregation" case. And this dear friends, is why property values have supposedly gone "up?". Funny how the government works, isn't it? 2 of the last 3 years, retiree's and the disabled didn't get a raise due to the CPI. I guess they don't shop for groceries, gasoline, clothes, and other necessities at the same places I do.

Joe Thompson, Chief Administrator in the Pulaski County Assessor's Office is truly a fool if he really thinks the housing market is the best in the country. And I think he needs to step down from his position for even thinking that must less saying it.

I am in my late 50's and wanted to retire in a few years. The other day I sat down and calculated the cost of my tax's on retirement and guess what? I can not afford my house and retire, even though I paid it out 11 years ago the state and government will seize my home because of delinquent tax's about 6 years after I retire. So my question is...DO YOU EVER REALLY OWN YOUR HOME?
