SHERIDAN, AR -- A special prosecutor is calling for the removal of the Grant County Sheriff Ray Vance.

Back in 2010, A Kansas judge ruled Vance falsely obtained a lifetime license so he could hunt in that state.

That's a misdemeanor.

The conviction is considered an infamous crime here in Arkansas, and the state Constitution says no one convicted of an infamous crime is eligible to hold an office.

Steve Gartman, who ran against Vance in the 2010 election, hopes to see the law exercised.

Vance has maintained he made a mistake and paid the $13,000 in fines.  He said he would respond Wednesday by email.

"We complain a lot about Washington, D.C., even state government, but if we can't get it right at the local level we have no business complaining," Vance said.
