I am against one person having the monopoly on casinos in Arkansas, but I do feel we need them to keep up with our neighboring states. But people wont flock to Arkansas or stay in Arkansas just for a "card room" style casino. Our surrounding states have much better schools and roads because of casinos. Are we going to continue to toss our money out of state or start taking whats ours and using it for our needs? Those that are against it, are you for raising taxes for our schools and roads? Didnt think so. Whats funny is you hear a lot of "church people" talking bad about casinos. But everytime I go to Tunica (which is 3 or 4 times a month) I always see church vans and buses over there. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Imagine that. As far as Jerry Cox and his group of morons, pack it up, we dont need you.

I am not opposed to having a casino in Arkansas. I AM VERY OPPOSED TO HAVING A CASINO MONOPOLY IN ARKANSAS. Why can't we have multiple casino corporations in Arkansas. What corrupt segment of the state government keeps trying to get casinos for cronies and cronies only passed in Arkansas. Arkansans- you are being sold a bill of corrupt goods- wake up!!!

We can play electronic games of skill in Hot Springs and West Memphis, but that's not gambling. Give me a break, it walks like a duck etc. etc. Can you say monopoly. I don't care one way or the other, but calling it something it's not doesn't make it legal. Either do away with it completely or legalize it, but not to a selected few.

I vote NO! to the card games, slot machines, electronic gambling, craps and etc. California Law only harms Arkansan children who we all care for, "Baby needs Shoes".

I know exactly what she wants to build, and they aren't casinos that most people think of. These are "cardrooms." They have them in California. They don't offer slot machines, electronic gambling, craps, etc. It's exclusively a place for card games. When you see those poker tournaments on television, they are generally happening in a cardroom establishment. They don't operate the same way a casino operates. Card players aren't playing against the house. Card players are playing against one another. The house gets a rake, which is where they take a portion of the pot. Or, the house charges each player for how long they sit in a game, like a pool hall charges for how long you use a table. People do this in secret right now. The difference would be that it would be legal, and it would also open us up to attracting large, televised poker tournaments which attract tourism. This is not a bad idea. This notion that the mob runs casinos is ridiculous. The mob got pushed out of that game 30 years ago by corporations. This wouldn't attract gangs and prostitution rings. The old, paranoid fuddy-duddies need to get a grip on reality. This wouldn't be a bad thing.

BTW....when they build a casino they will BRING THE EXPERIENCED HELP WITH THEM...which will in turn bring some business and taxes to the state, but don't count on the jobs.

The folks against casinos are right on...But, I love to go to casinos and would love to be able to go downtown to gamble. I am 73 yrs. old. THAT SAID. It seems the lottery DEPARTMENT is subject to all kinds of corruption and grossly overpaid....and true the clerks are subject to steal more winnings than they hand back to customers. IF MONEY WOULD SOLVE THE IGNORANCE of Arkansans, everyone attending school for the past 50 years would have a degree and a great job...NOT. RETURNING DISCIPLINE in schools and giving teachers some authority, instead of the kids running over the teachers and administrators IS ALL THE EDUCATION SYSTEM NEEDS. The lottery money would solve every financial problem Arkansas could DREAM UP...LIKE THE NEW (to be WORLD FAMOUS) BRIDGE...wonder what they will call it The "BILLY WILLY BRIDGE" to go with the "TRAILER ON STILTS" Billy Boy library and penthouse and the "BIG DAM BRIDGE"....all of which Little Rock should be famous for.
