LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Overnight storms left several thousand Arkansas residents without electricity as flash flooding led to road closures in parts of the state.
U.S. 71 in Scott County was closed for several hours Tuesday morning when the Fourche LaFave River overflowed. Numerous roadways across the state were closed temporarily because of high water.
Entergy Arkansas reported more than 6,000 customers without electricity. That includes almost 3,000 in Mississippi County and more than 1,000 each in Pulaski and Saline counties.
In Garland County, about 400 customers were without power Tuesday morning. The Sentinel-Record reports that the storms damaged docks and sank several boats on Lake Hamilton.
The line of storms that drenched the state was moving out Tuesday morning, though flash flood watches were active in central and northeast Arkansas.
