LITTLE ROCK, AR – Dozens of people rallied at the State Capitol, Saturday, showing support for what they say is their Second Amendment right to bear arms. Some carried signs to ensure their message is not just heard but seen by as many people as possible.

The rally was sponsored by a group calling itself “More Guns=Less Crime”. The Little Rock event was billed as part of a larger Nationwide Guns Across America Rally to let all American Gun Owners voice their concerns over what they call “the Federal Government’s constant attempts to alter and amend constitutional rights to fit their desires.” Gun rights supporters gathered at the Law Enforcement Memorial on the grounds of the State Capitol to share their thoughts and let others know they oppose any attempts to limit their rights to bear arms.

We will have a complete report tonight on Fox 16 News about today’s rally and other central Arkansas efforts to show support for gun owners and opposition to gun control legislation.

ladyofthehill, you are entirely correct. One must know also that Denmark and Sweden have nearly zero unemployment and their unemployment compensation is VERY brief and the government finds you other work that you are not allowed to decline, or you simply starve. That is the big difference

I can understand and respect the thought that there should not be the need for a civilian to own a gun that will fire 100 rounds on a minute, let me pose this question. If the highest speed limit in the country is 80 miles per hour, (just saying) why do they make vehicles that will travel at speeds in excess of 160 MPH for a civilian to own? Im not talking about police cars, EMT or fire vehicles, but regular ol Joe vehicles. I'll tell you why. Its our RIGHT to own them, same as the guns. Just a thought.

Thank you ladyofthehill! Unfortunately, some on here haven't a clue as to what Harvard is. Accidents? I don't call them that myself. Most are the result of some idiot that is texting, driving too fast, not paying attention, drinking, etc. Poor judgment on the driver is the cause of most "accidents". And why can't I compare smoking and abortion to gun deaths? Take any year in the 40 since Roe vs. Wade, and you have more humans murdered in the womb than all the gun deaths in those 40 years. Cigarettes? Hundreds of thousands a year, compared to what, a little above 30 thousand a year by guns. Yes, I can compare them. Did I touch a nerve with some of you? Not: I don't have a problem with registering my guns, or obeying the laws concerning my guns. Just as I don't have a problem with obeying the traffic laws, including the speed limit. Bottom line; if you are so worried about people dying by something, and wish to get rid of it, then start with the things that kill the most. Guns are below abortion, smoking, vehicle "accidents", poisoning, and other things. If you are so concerned about people's lives, start at the top, and work your way down to guns! imscho: Good points! But you can't tell an ignorant person that if the 2nd goes, then the rest will follow, starting with the 1st Ammendment. Plus they have to know what they are; that would help!

The criminal mind advocates gun control, because they know that’s one less gun pointing back at them when they commit a crime, why do you think a majority of the time the criminal mind chooses gun free zones. A civilized mind advocates gun ownership, because they know what the criminal mind advocates. Disarming a civilized mind is criminal. By taking away any form of equal resistance to the way the criminal mind thinks, the criminal mind wins. You cannot remove all the guns from lawless people with new laws, and new laws will just make criminals out of those who know the above truth. As for our second amendment, if you haven’t got it meaning by now, I doubt you ever will; and if you do? See the first, and fourteenth…

This is a Harvard study. Gun control is counter productive. Norway has the highest rate of gun ownership in Western Europe yet possesses the lowest murder rate.Hollands murder rate is nearly the worst despite having the lowest gun ownership rate in Western Europe.Sweeden and Denmark are 2 more examples of nations with high murder rates but few guns.

'AR Yankee' - no, we don't outlaw vehicles, but we do have plenty of laws to regulate them to keep people safe. Still, plenty of accidents happen, criminals use them, and otherwise decent folks still disobey those laws, but without speed limits, age restrictions, education/testing/licensing, traffic regulations, seatbelt laws, DUI laws, etc, many more thousands would die on the roads every day. Why shouldn't lethal weapons have at least the same kind of regulation? Duh. To 'The Viking' - thank you for proving my point about the lunatic fringe. (It's ironic how offended you got when the President said conservatives cling to 'guns and religion' under duress, because it's absolutely true!) Conspiracy theorists who distrust the government (yet don't mind using its services), while also hating and berating their fellow Americans who differ in worldview or political stripe, conveniently ignore the facts that disprove or cast doubt upon your own 'informed' views. Blame everyone but yourself for all of society's woes, naturally, but if your theories are based on 'facts' you obtained from Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, or some other right-wing fear-mongering propaganda machine, then maybe you should find more reliable information and try listening for once instead of just foaming at the mouth.
