DALLAS, TX— The Razorback band prepares to entertain thousands for the AT & T Cotton Bowl Classic. Thursday, the band practiced at a local high school.

The game will be the last one for drum major Chase Jones. He graduates this year.

“My first Cotton Bowl was as a freshman against Missouri. So it is cool my last one will be playing with the Cotton Bowl,” said Jones.

Nathan Cunningham is from Central Arkansas and plays trumpet.

“I came from a big band in Conway and when it came time to decide where I wanted to go to school, University of Arkansas is where I wanted to be,” said Cunningham.

Preparing for the matchup requires careful planning because the band will perform pregame and halftime shows.

The Cotton Bowl even provides tuba covers and drum heads for the game, showcasing the organizations cotton logo.

“It helps us get into the spirit. The Kansas State Band is doing the same thing. So it gives us a little bit more unified look,” said band director Chris Knighten.
