ROLAND, AR – About 5 to 8 acres of timber burned Sunday night after a teenager shot a Mason jar of gasoline that was sitting next to a small fire, according to the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office.
The report says 18-year-old Jacob Harter and his friend Paul Kanatzar were shooting guns on Berry Patch Lane, in west Pulaski County. The report says Harter shot the jar and the gasoline poured onto the fire. When Harter left to get some water, the report says Kanatzar drove his Jeep over the fire in an attempt to put out the flames.
The report says the Jeep became stuck on a tree stump, puncturing its gas tank, resulting in the Jeep being completely burned.
The report says the woods belonged to Deltic Timber. 22 firefighters fought the fire, as well as personnel from the Arkansas State Forestry Commission.
Harter was cited for violating the burn ban.
