CARLISLE, AR – A woman is in the hospital with both legs amputated after her sister reportedly ran her over with a car during an argument between the sister and another male family member.

According to the Lonoke County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the disturbance at a home on Highway 381 in Carlisle early Sunday morning. The 35-year-old victim was taken to the hospital via med-flight where her legs were amputated as a result of her injuries.

Arrested is 32-year-old Cherly Marie Kelly. The sheriff’s office says that Kelly told them she did not intend to run over her sister, rather, she was trying to scare the male family member.

Kelly is charged with 1st degree domestic battery.

brookecotton you are so RIGHT about these posts.but good luck with Lonoke your family is goibg to need it. People everyone should back off until more is known. I pray for all the family. Accidents REALLY DO HAPPEN. Sounds to me like this family [as so many others] are under alot of stress do to economic hardship. Wonder if the males work? Let's just back off and pray for them instead of attacking like rabid animals

There are lots of opinions with every situation. Negative comments should be kept to yourself, regardless (true or not) - they hurt people. Those standing and shouting accusations are usually in the wrong. Cheryl helped Miranda when she separated from her husband, is that any different than when Cheryl and her family moved into their front yard to live, however Miranda and her husband 'struggled' to support two families at that time? Didn't result in anyone getting assaulted with a vehicle. Logical answers for illogical behavior will never be acceptable. Prayer is what this family needs. A special thanks to all of you willing to say one.

This was not an accident. This is my family and the two women are my cousins. The male member (also my other cousin) that they are referring to was in the house when this had happened. This is the culprit's side of the story. She meant to run over her sister because they had been arguing earlier that day. My little brother was there and saw the entire thing. He most likely saved our cousin's life by belting down her legs to stop the bleeding. The male member came out of the house and jerked the culprit from the vehicle. He then backed the vehicle off of my cousin. Fox needs to check into other sources before they broadcast a story that is a one sided lie. Oh, and be careful what you say about my family please. It is immature and unnecessary.

Its not a bullet proof jacket. Its a vest they put on people who are on suicide watch. Wouldn't you be contemplating killing yourself if you we responsible for almost killing your own sister or anyone for that matter? I really wish they would have waited to run this story until the detective was done talking to everyone, especially the other family members. No, lets just do a one sided news report. Smh

She should have her legs run over by a car, let the punishment fit the crime.

Ironic, she was attempting to "scare the male member" but instead, ran over and permanently maimed and disfigured her own sister?! No pity for this one, can't move past the fact that she committed a felony act of terrorism, victim isn't important, her intent here is.
