TEXARKANA, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a resident walked away from a Department of Community Correction center in Texarkana.

The department says 23-year-old Jessie Heath used torn sheets to drop through a fifth-floor window when he fled the facility shortly after 3 a.m. Thursday.

Heath was placed in the center on July 1 for a commercial burglary conviction out of Polk County. The department says Heath would have been released to probation after a four-month period.

Heath is a white male, standing 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. He is clean-shaven with brown hair and blue eyes. Authorities say he was last wearing bright yellow institutional pants and a white T-shirt.

The department says Heath is not considered a violent offender but says anyone who sees him should call authorities.
