Residents concerned about asbestos in Job Corps building

Some Little Rock residents say the former Job Corps building is an eyesore and a safety hazard for the city.
LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Some Little Rock residents say the former Job Corps building is an eyesore and a safety hazard for the city.

Chains keep out trespassers. But for Faye Russ the site keeps out improvement efforts in her neighborhood. She wants city managers to take action.

"They really need to do something about it," said Russ, "They need to tear it down or do something."

The building has sat empty since a private company bought the property in 2009. But not much has happened since then.

It sits just one block away from a neighborhood park and that leaves people like Carol Tabron concerned about the future.

"I see it it being a continued eyesore. I see homeless people going in and sleeping. I don't see anything productive," said Tabron.

Neighbors say they plan to go to the next Little Rock City board meeting to voice their worries.
