Little Rock-based Windstream corporation announced Thursday it will cut up to 400 management positions as it restructures the company.

The cuts are expected to save the company between 30 to 40 million dollars.

Windstream spun off from Alltel in 2006. It's initial focus was land-line phones, but has since branched out to include broadband internet and digital television services.

too many chiefs, not enough indians...With that kind of savings, I'm no mathematician but I'd say the managers were slightly over paid..they'll probably live for a a good six months on their severance pkg, then file unemployment and live on that for another year or two..then they'll just have to settle for whatever job they can find. Not a lot of demand for corporate managers these days.
