I drove the freeway from Morrilton to Conway for 31 yrs , year round. The only AHT trucks I would see was the ones from the Conway County AHT yard. The gus in Morrilton always had the roads and bridges sanded and salted when I hit the freeway at 4:30am ,ALWAYS!. when I would get to the Faulkner Co. line on I-40 or Hwy 64 the Cadron bridges on both hwys would be done by the Conway Co. crew. Passed the county line into Faulkner Co. nothin done. I've went across the hwy 65 overpass on I-40 many times sideways because it slopes down hill. Randy Ort you need to be sure what your talking about before you say anything. THANKS CREW FROM THE CONWAY COUNTY YARD.

I drove from Hot Springs to Mayflower at 4 this morning and not one truck from Highway Department in sight. When I crossed the River Bridge on 430 the only other car I seen was doing donuts and trying not to wreck is what I was doing on that untreated sheet of ice.

Ort is lieing his tail off if he sais crews were out overnight working on roads... If they were they must have been on the back roads somewhere becaus they sure was'nt on the inerstate. I drove from littlerock to pinebluff this morning at 5:00 oclock and did'nt see even one ahtd truck and every bridge was iced up. They can make excuses if they whant to but that was just piss pore proper prier planning.

What a crock! Not one bridge or overpass I traveled across was treated. I knew at 8:00PM last night what the commute was going to be like, because the highway department would be sleeping!

I grew up in illinois and Missouri where it snowed alot every year. AHTD needs to go get some advice from them because they are never prepared. You dont wait for it to start..you attack before. Arkansas has been getting more and more snow every year. Time to put more money where it is needed. The roads should not have been shut down this morning. this was minor, but poor planning made it worse.

Let Randy Ort with the AHTD explain it. It's not our fault again.....

I have to agree with whoopTdoo2U As a retired trucker, I remember rolling into the Dallas area when snow was in the forecast and seeing salt and sand trucks sitting on the entrance ramps waiting for the snow to start. And if it did, they sprang into action. But here, they let the bad weather get a grip on the roads before they do anything.

Absolutely the worst planing by the AHTD. Someone should be fired when a light snow shuts down Central Arkansas because nobody salted or sanded the bridges or overpasses. What a joke Arkansas highways are becoming. One week there flooded and shut down and the next there froze over.
