BENTON, AR – Benton Fire Chief Bill Ford has issued a ban on the sale and use of fireworks within city limits until a county-wide burn ban has been lifted, FOX16 has learned.

The burn ban was issued by Saline County judge Lanny Fite on June 22, and includes all of Saline County, including Benton. The ban will be enforced until it is lifted by Judge Fite, and does not affect the July 4th public display of fireworks at the Benton Freedom Fest.

FOX16 will have more information on this story as it becomes available.

Good! I hope the City of Bryant will follow suit and do the same. When the ground is as dry as it is and there's no rain in sight, it can be a very dangerous situation. All it takes is one tiny spark and before you know it, several acres and homes have burned.
