The Salvation Army needs your help filling Angel Tree requests so central Arkansas children have presents to open on Christmas.

Twelve-hundred boxes filled with new unwrapped toys and clothes set to go to three-thousand children this Christmas, sit in an old grocery store in Sherwood.

“I have known families that receive gifts through Angel Tree, and I know how important it was for them, and so I like to be able to help other people experience that, and besides, it’s lots of fun,” says volunteer Georgiana Soderberg.

“What is it like organizing this? You seem like you’re in charge around here,” said FOX16's Kelly Dudzik.

“It is a challenge. It’s like solving a giant puzzle making everything fit in its place. Sometimes chaotic, but usually smooth,” said Soderberg.

When you give to the Angel Tree progam, your donations end up at the distribution center where volunteers sort them and get them ready for their final destination.

“It’s always nice to kind of step outside yourself and do something for others who aren’t in the same position that you are. Give back to people that are not as blessed in material ways,” said volunteer Jennifer Menna.

But, with just days to go until the giving deadline, many boxes still need to be filled.

“We’d love to have volunteers helping us here. Every day we’re gonna be here until all of these boxes are ready,” says Major Alan Hill with the Salvation Army.

You do not need any training. Soderberg will provide that.

“No one person can take care of 3,000 angels, but 3,000 people can take care of 3,000 angels,” she says.

The deadline to give is Sunday at 6 p.m.

This is such a wonderful gift to others. Christmas is all about giving and thats what we need to do. If we're able to post online, then we have access to a computer either at home or work. Therefore you can change one life at a time and get for one angel. Make a difference people and give. May God Bless
