LITTLE ROCK, AR – The Salvation Army says it will close its thrift store on Geyer Springs at the end of this month. The Salvation Army cites the severe disrepair of their building and the growing industrial nature of their area as reasons for leaving.

The thrift store, located on 65th and Geyer Springs, will close at the end of the day on March 31st, after more than 40 years at that location. The Salvation Army says it hopes the closure is temporary and that they will be able to find an acceptable place to relocate.

"We are very disappointed to close the store,” said Major James Taylor, Central Arkansas Area Commander for The Salvation Army. “This store provides a valuable service to those in need in our community and the bottom line is that those needs aren’t going to go away.”

In the interim, the Salvation Army plans to team with Goodwill to help those in need.
