School employee arrested for sexual assault

SPRINGHILL, AR - An employee of the Springhill School District was arrested Thursday on three counts of sexual assault on a minor.

Hempstead County Sheriff James Singleton says 28-year-old Brigit Newsom of Hope was arrested about noon at the Springhill School.

Newsom was hired to supervise students during their lunch period and ensure they do not leave campus, according to authorities.

Investigators say they discovered several sexually explicit text messages between Newsom and a 16-year-old boy which led to the two engaging in sexual acts away from the school.

Newsom appeared before Circuit Judge Randal Wright Friday morning and bond was set at $5,000. She was given a January 9th, 2012 court date. Newsom was released after posting bond.

I guess the school didnt specify HOW she had to make sure they stayed on campus. But I guess a mouth hug or a piece of booty would make me wanna stay at school too. What I wouldnt give to be 16 again.

16 year old boys can be just as aggressive as an adult male/female! I absolutely do NOT agree with the decision made by this woman, BUT there are 2 sides to this story!!

Sorry you're not getting your needs met TexasMadDog but civilized people don't agree with your views about preying on children. Somehow I suspect that if it was a man going after your 16 year old daughter you might just feel differently.

She need to get the same punishment as a man convicted of this same crime. A pervert is a pervert no matter what your gender. Women are on the rise with this disgusting nasty crime ! Throw the book at her !
