718inthe501 actually I would never leave my children at the bus stop but after working for the horrific district I know that many many parents in the district would. Many of these parents could care less about school unless it is closed for some reason because that means their baby sitter is gone. You must live in the dark if you do not know this about the PCSSD and many of the parents. Sorry if I care for the welfare of other children and not just my own.

"onlooker" - No. Age apropriate, you shankapotamus. Nice parenting skills if you would leave a kindergartner ALONE at any bus stop light or dark. Your probably one of those "its ok as long as thier not bothering me" type parents. NICE.

I think that the PCSSD needs to seriously look into switching the high school and elementary schedules. Does it not make more sense for high schoolers to be the ones at school at 7:30 and out at 3:00 especially with after school activities. As a parent of two young children I completely disagree with 718inthe501. I am sorry but if you think that kindergarten kids should be at a bus at 6:00 in the morning waiting for a bus you have some serious mental issues.

OMG!! George Carlin said it best, the "Pussification of America and Americas Children". You have got to be kidding me? So some kids have to wait for the school bus in the dark? Oh, WAH says you? Give me a break people. Keep uber coddling our children and lets see how our country turns out in a few decades. Again, give me a break. Life can be and is tough, but it is just life. Find something a little more important to whine about would you?

School starts August 19th according to my math that is one week not two!!!! That said, PCSSD has some serious problems that all start at the school board. Get those idiots out of there!!!!!!!!!!!!

By the way, my child is in high school & I have to be at work at 8:00. I will just have to drop off my child on my way to work and she will just have to wait outside since the school doesn't let them in until it is almost time for the bell. This includes stormy days or days that are below freezing!

My child is a pcssd student. I think that the school board needs to leave the schedules alone and if the teachers need the extra 40 mins per board rules, then they can stay after the bell rings in the afternoon. Most people work 8-5 and I don't see why the teachers can't do this instead of having to get kids up earlier or creating problems on parents that drop off their children!!!

I know I am in the minority on this subject. But for my household the earlier time works best. I can actually drop my child off at school on my way to work instead of at the bus stop from which he called me multiple times last year because the bus did not run. Again, I do realize I am in the minority on the subject.

The people making these changes don't have the best interest of the children in mind. It's just not safe for children to be waiting for the bus or walking to school that young in the dark. It's just a matter of time until somethin tragic happens. Brain research says that children need to get their sleep for learning.

Crap like this is why my grandkids will never go to PCSSD. Both my sons went there and I removed the youngest. My son did much better in another district. PCSSD has been in junk status for far to long and Jacksonville will never get any better till they get away from this mess. Set Jacksonville free and watch how fast they inprove. You go to school where you live and NOT at DARK.
