Search Continues for Diver in Carroll County

A free-diver in Carroll County has gone missing. Officials say the man did not use an oxygen tank when he plunged into beaver lake
CARROLL COUNTY, AR- Crews are still searching for a free-diver missing Carroll County. Officials say the man did not use an oxygen tank when he plunged into beaver lake.

Free-diving relies heavily on the diver's ability to hold their breath underwater. In most cases, divers do not use scuba equipment, which is why officials say the competitive sport is dangerous.

""You're going down 40-to-50 ft. You're holding your breath for three minutes, going down looking for fish, going in some pretty dark cold water," said Alan Bland,  U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Crews are in search and recovery mode using sonar, still actively searching to find the diver.
