SEARCY, AR - Searcy Police are dealing with one of the largest cases of vandalism it has ever seen, more than 100 cars and trucks scuffed up at three dealerships causing more than $200,000 worth of damage.

The damage may look minor, but it's a major cost for W & W Ford. Jay Curtis says eight of his vehicles were hit over the weekend.

"It’s aggravating," Curtis says.

But he considers himself lucky relatively speaking.

Charles Deitrick, general manager at Orr Chevrolet say 45 vehicles were damaged at his lot off Hwy 67/167 including the only two corvettes and a whole row of high priced Cadillac vehicles.

And over 30 vehicles were damaged at Orr Nissan across the street, according to Deitrick.

Brittany Eacret with the Searcy Police Department says detectives do not have a lot of leads yet.

"I think the unusual aspect is the amount of money involved and the overwhelming number of cars and that it happened in such a short time period."

Curtis says the dealerships in Searcy are stepping up in response.

"We're competitive when it comes to selling vehicles but when it comes to something like that, we're going to work together," Curtis says.

Searcy police say a $3000 reward is in place for any information leading to an arrest. Curtis says the dealerships are working to raise that amount to $7500. The hope, a higher reward will get those responsible off the streets quicker.

"I hope we catch you, I hope the police catch you because they will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law," Curtis says.

One of the dealerships has surveillance cameras in place, but none picked up the suspects on video.

My apologies for being on a rant. Put the bike in the shop yesterday, neutral switch is bad. Was told it may be two weeks before they get the part in, and I've got to take around 300 out of my savings. Been upset over this problem with the switch lately. Water company says may have a "Possible" leak; so I've got to dig up the outside hydrant, and crawl under the trailer to find it, and then fix it, which is a pain. Please forgive an old man.

Hey lord, I'm curious. We are in the Bible Belt. Christians make up about 75 percent of the population, plus or minus a few points. Why has our state legislature been led by Democrats for 148 years? The party of abortion and gay "rights". Why did the country just vote in a president from the party of abortion? If someone votes for the party that kills babies, and says they are a Christian.....

My mistake keri. Must have been all that stuff I did back in the '70's, '80's, and '90's. And whats wrong with Playboy? I've seen movies in there, for rent and for sale that are just as "bad". And while browsing for a rag, such as Easy Riders or Model Railroader, I've seen car and truck mags, women's mags, and fitness mags with barely dressed women; what's the diff? I've seen more t and a on Cosmo covers than some Playboy covers. What's the difference?

lordoflords; You might want to do a little research. North of LR, AR was pro Union back then. The state legislators were "owned" by the same people that owned the slaves and the land that grew cotton; that's why AR was in the Confederacy. After LR fell in '63, Arkansans formed 15 regiments and a couple of artillery units for the Union Army. So yes, there were Yankees in AR during the war. I don't bash Christians; I bash the one's that want to control our lives, those that are self righteous and holier than thou, and people like you - using a handle that only one is entitled to - Jesus Christ. Like my soon to be ex church. I talked to my pastor one day before church. I told him there were people there that looked down on me, and judged me, for my long hair, for wearing leather to church, and for riding a Harley. He agreed with me, but told me to ignore them; I was there to worship the REAL Lord of Lords, and that's all that counted. Don't blame Christians for the acts of a heathen? My money is on this - if they are found, they are more than likely young people, and their mommies and daddies will defend them saying they are good, church going, young people. Oh, and lord of lords, I don't claim to be a Christian, I AM ONE! And I don't claim to be Christ Himself with my handle!

Arkansas Yankee, They didn't run Hastings out of Searcy, they ran Playboy out of Hastings.

Ark.Yankee, I wish you'd go back to being just a yankee. I get so tired of hearing you bash Christians and all the while you claiming to be one yourself. Instead of bashing Christians for trying to make our world a moral place to live, instead atheists and people like you populate the earth and look where we are now. So don't blame Christians for the acts of a heathen.

smalltowngirl; They must have let them back in. When I moved back here in '90, it was sometime after that they picketed the store and forced them to close up shop. I remember being shocked by the "moral majority" in Searcy at that time. I've only been there for PGR missions and the Opening Ceremonies of the Special Olympics. I also use Hasting here in Jax; for renting movies and I have bought a few books and rags there; it's the only place I can find Easy Rider locally. Appreciate the update. Hope they catch the vandals. We all know car dealers make lots of dough; surprised they don't have better security systems in place.

I wonder if this is the Curtis that used to sell chevys. I bought a new 2002 35 anniversary edition Camaro from one. If it was he was a nice guy. I like the town of Searcy. The college there does put a little to much input into things at time. Hate to hear of the loss. Two corvettes in a whole line of caddies. Hummmmmm!

ArkansasYankee, yes, there have been several times when Searcy or the surrounding towns have been on the news for crimes...but, look how often Little Rock is. Also, your facts are incorrect....there is still a Hastings in Searcy and I know that it's been there since at least 2000. I live in a small town nearby and shop at Hastings in Searcy about once a week.

BTW; I've offered thouhts and prayers to families that need it. Such as victims of crime, etc. REGARDLESS of color. Yes, I bash the criminal element; the murderers, rapists, thugs that steal and rob, tweekers, perverts - REGARDLESS of color. One more thought though on Searcy and Hastings. The "moral majority" isn't as moral as you, or they, think they are! This country is "supposed" to be around 75 percent Christian, yet they voted in a president that supports gay marraige, and killing children in the womb. Sad.
