TRASKWOOD, AR – Benton Police arrested a second woman Friday in connection to the death of Joe Lee Richards, Jr.
53-year-old Myra Terry is charged with hindering apprehension during the investigation of a missing person and homicide of Richards, Jr. Police say that conduct had been ongoing for the last year. Police also say Terry is charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence.
The arrest comes on the same day that the identity of the second body found in a Traskwood home was released. He is 53-year-old Randal C. Anderson, of Mablevale. Unlike Richards, Jr. deputies did not know Anderson was missing until they found his body.
“It’s kind of strange that a family, after a period of four years, has not contacted the authorities to put out a missing persons report or something,” said Saline County Sheriff Bruce Pennington.
The woman suspected of committing the murders, Marissa Wright, made her first appearance in court Friday afternoon. Wright asked the judge for a reasonable bond, but the judge declined, citing her 2 capital murder charges and two suicide attempts she admitted to making before her arrest.
“I will not commit suicide. I guarantee you I will have a day in court,” said Wright. “I’ll stay in my house. I will wear an electronic device. I’ll meet with the prosecutor. I will tell you everything I know.
Benton police say that the investigation is on-going, and could result in additional charges against Terry and Wright or other people involved in the homicide. Police urge anyone with information about the crime to contact the police at 778-1171 or 315-TIPS.
