FAYETTEVILLE, AR - Sources have confirmed to FOX16 sports director David Raath that former Miami head coach Randy Shannon has interviewed for the vacant Arkansas defensive coordinator position and is considered the front runner for the job. Shannon would replace Willy Robinson who resigned after four years in the position.

Shannon is considered one of the better defensive minds in college football after helping lead the Hurricanes to the 2001 national championship, while winning the Broyles Award that year.

Stay tuned to FOX16 for the latest on this story.

Arkansas: I have confirmed the Randy Shannon report that has surfaced is totally inaccurate. Shannon has not been contacted by Bobby Petrino at this point. http://www.coachingsearch.com/coaching-search-ticker.html
