Sheriff hurt after motorcycle strikes deer

The sheriff in Baxter County has been injured in a motorcycle accident after running into a group of deer.

HARRISON, Ark. (AP) — The sheriff in Baxter County has been injured in a motorcycle accident after running into a group of deer.

The Baxter Bulletin reports that John Montgomery was riding a Honda motorcycle Thursday night on Arkansas Highway 101, just south of the Missouri border. The deer ran onto the highway, and Montgomery collided with one of them.

He lost control of the motorcycle, striking a tree before coming to rest in a ditch on the side of the highway.

Montgomery was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released.
