JACKSONVILLE, AR - The owner of Skate World in Jacksonville faces sexual assault charges. He is accused of touching a five-year-old girl and trying to lure her into the bathroom.
There's not a car in sight at the usually bustling Skate World in Jacksonville.
"This type of investigation is never fun," said Capt. Kenny Boyd with Jacksonville Police.
Skate World owner Robert Borders is accused of sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl while at work.
"The allegations are that he had touched the back, neck and buttock area of a five-year-old," said Capt. Boyd.
The report also says Borders tried to lure her into the bathroom.
Borders denied the allegations when we spoke to him on the phone saying he only touched the girl's back.
Local families say they want to see more regulations in family-friendly businesses.
"If a child day care has to do it, than anybody that needs to be around kids should follow the same protocol," said father of two Nathan Glasscock.
"There is no one to regulate but the owner," said former state legislator Dawn Creekmore.
Creekmore tried many times to get legislation passed to better protect children in private businesses. She says her suggestions were almost always slapped down adding the government just can't regulate a private business.
"You can never rely on the law to take care of your children," said Creekmore.
Police say they believe there are more victims that have yet to come forward. Although Borders has never been arrested for a similar crime in Jacksonville, police say others have brought previous allegations to them in the past.
Borders is out on a 5,000 dollar bond and tells us he is searching for a lawyer.
