Emergency responders unveiled an innovative new tool Monday morning at the Capitol.
LITTLE ROCK, AR – Emergency responders unveiled an innovative new tool Monday morning at the Capitol.

Smart 911 allows residents to create an online profile that automatically shows up during emergency calls. The profile can include home address with mobile phone numbers, medical conditions and disabilities, pictures of family members, floor plans, and other important information.

First responders say that having this information at their fingertips beforehand can save a lot of time when responding
to calls.

"Specifically finding them in their home within an apartment complex for example can be a real challenge,” said Jon Swanson with MEMS. “Also, the security code to get past the gate, for example. It's all information they can put in the system that will allow us to find them quicker.”

Arkansas will be the first state in the nation to have the service available in every county.
