HOT SPRINGS, AR - Many developed recreation area campsites will be temporarily closed on the Ouachita and Ozark-St. Francis National Forests over the next few days as strong storms move across Arkansas and Oklahoma. Weather reports are predicting 6” or more of rain may fall and could result in flooding in some areas.

National Forest managers are closing selected campsites in recreation areas most susceptible to flooding. Everyone should be on high alert for potential flooding throughout all areas of both National Forests. Some roads and dispersed camping sites may not be safe to use. Recreation area sites will re-open once the threat of flooding passes.

Forest visitors are encouraged to contact the National Forest office where they plan to camp before traveling. For more information about camping on the Ouachita National Forest logon to www.fs.usda.gov/ouachita or call (501) 321-5202; for information on the Ozark-St. Francis National Forests logon to www.fs.usda.gov/osfnf or call (479) 964-7200.
