HAGARVILLE, Ark. (AP) — A man arrested in the death of his 71-year-old mother is being held in the Johnson County jail on $1 million bond.
Tommy Bowden appeared in court Thursday and Circuit Judge Bill Pearson found probable cause to hold him on a first-degree murder charge. Bowden is accused in the death of Julie Richardson, who was found dead Monday in her rural Johnson County home.
Authorities aren't releasing the cause of Richardson's death or details of any evidence that allegedly led to her son. Sheriff Jimmy Dorney says Bowden was arrested Wednesday when he was being held in the Yell County jail on unrelated charges.
Pearson appointed the public defender's office to represent Bowden, but an attorney couldn't be reached for comment early Friday.
