South Carolina murder suspect arrested in Bald Knob

An accused murderer who has eluded the police for more than a decade is now behind bars.
BALD KNOB, AR – An accused murderer who has eluded the police for more than a decade is now behind bars.

José Tostado was arrested in Bald Knob Thursday. Law enforcement believes that Tostado killed Alfonso Fuentes in September of 2000 at a nightclub in Horry County, South Carolina. A search of his home resulted in the seizure of a shotgun and a pistol.

Bald Knob police say they originally responded to Tostado’s home on a domestic disturbance call. A confidential informant then gave them a tip to look into the old murder charge.

Police say Tostado has spent the last 12 years living in Mississippi, Louisiana, Alabama, and Arkansas, working jobs in construction.

Tostado was taken to the White County jail where he will await extradition to South Carolina.
