Does it seem you can't go anywhere without your cell phone?
Cell phones know that, and they use to their benefit.
Every time you download an app, search a web site, or use your GPS, your cell phone provider could be tracking your activity. Marketing insiders say the cell phone companies pay big bucks to get a hold of your data trail. Many people don't even know the companies are tracking their calls.
But while consumer advocacy groups call it an invasion of privacy, consumers usually benefit with ads that save them money on the favorite purchases.
"I don't really think that most people are going to review every email they get from their cell phone company and then go through the extra step of opting out of this targeted advertisement," said Rainey Reitman, spokesman for the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
FOX16's Dustin Barnes will show one cell phone provider who sells your information. Find out who tonight on FOX16 News at 9:00.
