LITTLE ROCK, AR – A student at UALR is recovering in the hospital after being shot Friday night near the campus.

According to Chancellor Joel Anderson, the shooting happened at 12 and Lewis streets, which is about two miles from the University. Anderson says the school learned about the shooting on Tuesday morning.

According to the police report, the shooting victim is 18-year-old Taylor Lain. The police report says that Lain was in the area with a friend to buy marijuana, but ended up getting shot by an unknown man who was in his car trying to rob Lain and his friend.

Everyone should care WHY this guy was in the neighborhood, he wasn't going door to door selling Bibles or offering to be a productive member of society, he was there to solicit an ongoing criminal enterprise and got interrupted by a peer looking for and then finding a victim.

Who cares WHY he was in the area? It doesn't make the fact that someone (not even related to why he was there) tried to rob him any different or the fact that he got shot.

the reason that this victim was physically in the area in which he was shot is stated plainly, He was attempting to make a purchase of MARIJUANA. That is how it becomes relevant to the report, the reporters isn't attempting to "ruin" anyone listed in the story.

I don't see how the marijuana is even relevant!! He was shot by someone who was robbing him, it had nothing to do with that. Are you guys in the business of ruining kids lives because it shouldn't of been reported like that.

Moonglow, they're all hyperalert for BS like this after the Guardado murder. I do agree, it wasn't near the campus. I'd prefer to be able to buy pot legally and safely, crap like this just reinforces the Legalize & Tax argument.
