GUY, AR – The Guy-Perkins superintendent, arrested Thursday on theft by receiving charges, will resign at the end of the school year.

At their regularly scheduled meeting Thursday night, the school board met in executive session for about 45 minutes discussing the superintendent position. When they came out, the board read a letter from David Westenhover saying he planned to resign at the end of the school year. At that time the school board voted to put Westenhover on paid administrative leave.

Current K-12 principal Brian Cossey was appointed as interim superintendent by the board. Damon Teas, the assistant K-12 principal, was appointed as interim principal.

Cole Cantrell, a parent in attendance at the board meeting, said he hopes the school district can move forward from this.

“Guy-Perkins is an amazing school, we have some of the best teachers in the state. My kids will graduate here, and hopefully my great-grandkids will graduate from here,” said Cantrell.

Westenhover was arrested by the Faulkner County Sheriff’s Office after a 3-month long investigation into a burglary where guns were stolen. At least one of those stolen guns was in his possession.

In addition to the felony theft by receiving, Westenhover is charged with hindering apprehension (a felony) and obstruction of governmental operations (a misdemeanor).

Contracts prevent being fired these days. I agree with bat. He has a criminal record and got hired for the position. Should have never been hired in the first place.

Its a shame with all the stealing and theft that is going on up here at Guy, that they would go after a man who is just being a good dad and would just do what any other good dad would do. That's why the thieving still goes on at Guy, Arkasas.
