New Campaign to Help Students Read

A new campaign is about to kick off to help Arkansas students to be able to read at their grade level.
LITTLE ROCK, AR- A new campaign is about to kick off to help Arkansas students to be able to read at their grade level. According to a recent study, 47 percent of Central Arkansas fourth graders are reading below their grade level.

In response to that, business and community leaders will unveil a campaign to recruit 600 volunteer reading tutors within the week.

This campaign will be launched at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children's Library.

There is strong evidence that children can make substantial gains in reading proficiency by having a tutor for one hour a week.

Founded in 2012 to address the need, AR Kids Read is a high-impact community initiative that leverages the power of caring volunteers to solve the problem of early childhood illiteracy.
