Suspect Accused of Using 'Handy Man' Truck in House Burglaries

A man is behind bars awaiting extradition to Mississippi after being accused of theft and burglary charges.
MARION COUNTY, AR -- A man is behind bars awaiting extradition to Mississippi after being accused of theft and burglary charges.

According to the Marion County Sheriff's Office (MCSO), witnesses observed 41-year-old James William Smith, of Flippin, going to different homes in a truck with "Handy Man" on the side, then entering and taking items from the homes.

MCSO says on July 31, one witness was at home when they saw Smith reach through their window and try to take an air conditioning unit. The victim yelled at Smith, who then ran away.

Officials soon caught up to Smith and arrested him, but he bonded out on $10,000.

Smith was picked up again the following Friday after authorities in Mississippi requested that he be picked up on a warrant for violating his parole.

He is now back in the Marion County Jail on the original charges along with a "no bond" detainer out of Mississippi, as he awaits extradition back to that state.
