EVENING SHADE, Ark. (AP) — Sharp County authorities say a 14-year-old boy has been killed in a hunting accident in northeast Arkansas.

Police told KAIT-TV the teen was hunting with another 14-year-old and a 16-year-old near Evening Shade on Sunday when the victim began climbing down the steps of a hunting blind.

Authorities say as the other 14-year-old began to climb down the steps, his rifle discharged and struck the victim..

The boy's name wasn't released. His body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy, but investigators say no foul play is suspected.

howardstern, yes i was talking about you people. whites rob and kill too so dont make that a black thing. your kind always tries to justify everything yall do. fact is hunting unsupervised at that age was illegal and it caused a death that is called negligence. i am not racist so your racist responses dont bother me. you can talk about blacks all you want to idiot that doesnt have anything to do with what happened that day and they did not even say a race. for all i knew the kids were black i have a ton of friends that hunt and their parents are responsible hunters and would never let that happen. so if it makes you people feel better about this young mans death to say "black people commit crimes" say it it just shows how stupid and disconnected with reality that you are.

Covington, atleast "our kids" are out hunting animals with their guns and not robbing liquor stores or killing people. This is a sad, tragic event and my prayers go out to the family and his friends. The parents should not have allowed them to go hunting alone. This is actually illegal per AGFC guidelines.

Covington, if I am reading between the lines correctly you are asking why us "white" people entrust our kids with guns. No doubt that hunting accidents are a tragedy and can usually be prevented with proper training, but they are very rare. If we are pointing fingers, the better question is why do "you people" allow your kids to run around with guns and commit senseless murders? Statistically speaking, do you really want to talk about bad parenting?

your supposed to hunt the animals, and yall call us dumb. prayers to the family. but why do your kind belive that kids can go out and handle guns at that age. the parents should be arrested for child endangerment! thats what you get when you teach a child to hunt and dont supervise him. bad parenting is the cause of death

Im sorry. I dont care what anyone says, but there are very few 14 and 16 year olds that are mature enough to be hunting without adult supervision. For that matter there are a lot of 18 year olds that arent. They are just too forgetful, or just domt pay attention. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of this child.

So sad! I wish there had been an adult with them so that they could have made sure that they were using proper gun control. Accidents happen. Prayers for the family.
