MAGNOLIA, Ark. (AP) — Authorities say a 13-year-old was stabbed by another student during a fight at Magnolia Junior High School.

The Magnolia Police Department says the 13-year-old got into a fist fight with a 14-year-old student on Monday afternoon. Detective Todd Dew tells the Banner-News that the 14-year-old had brought a knife to school and began to stab the younger student.

Dew says the fight was broken up almost immediately.

The 13-year-old was initially treated by a school nurse then taken to Magnolia Regional Medical Center. His condition wasn't released.

The 14-year-old is facing juvenile charges of first-degree battery. A school spokesman says the junior high was on lockdown during the incident.

Why have metal detectors in a school if you aren't going to use them? Doesn't make much sense to me.

Fardy, there is a difference between a ghetto and the sticks. Havent you read the book? Hillbillies DO NOT live in ghettos. LOL. Areas like this arent labeled ghettos, they are labled inbredville, or idiotville.

jwLonokeCo, those days have since past my friend. As a parent of a very young child, I can see the stress parent have as well. My wife and I have been fortunate enough to be blessed with a very healthy business that has grown very well over that last 17 years. It allows us to not only provide a strong financial setting for our son, but it also allows us the time to be parents. We dont have to work two or more jobs, 90+ hrs a week to make ends meet and so on. Being a parent is more stressful today than it use to be, as is the stress of being a kid. There are more temptations than when I was growing up. My biggest fear was getting caught sneaking some of dad's beer or a cig. Now a days, there are a lot of different peer pressures for kids to deal with. We just try our best to explain to our kids what is right and wrong with things that go on today and tell them to have faith in God, He will lead you in the right direction. Knock on wood, so far it has worked.

jail the 14 y/o's parent(s) too. Remember when parents used to be responsible for the actions of their children?
