BENTON, AR – 3 teenagers are charged with attempted capital murder in connection to the stabbing and carjacking of a Good Samaritan. The trio is also wanted in Saline County for a violent carjacking that took place earlier this week.
The teens charged are 17-year-old Blake Smith, 15-year-old Christopher Darden, and 15-year-old Hayley Thompson. They are accused of stabbing Bobby Strickland, and elderly man, who pulled over to help them with what appeared to be a broken down car. That is when Strickland was stabbed multiple times and his truck stolen.
The Saline County Sheriff’s office says earlier this week driver’s was choked and their car stolen. The three teens are suspected in other carjackings as well in the county, the sheriff says that they had a pattern of stealing cars, each time getting more violent.
Strickland was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover from his wounds.
On Friday, a circuit county judge set each teen’s bond at $750,000. The trio remains in the Drew County Jail. In addition to the attempted capital murder, the teens are charged with aggravated robbery, theft of property, and theft by receiving.
