Texarkana Police Investigating Grenade Found in Front of Business

Police called the Barksdale Air Force Base Civil Engineer Squadron to collect the device and take it to a safe location, where a controlled explosion was performed.
TEXARKANA, AR -- Police in Texarkana are investigating after a grenade was found in the parking lot of a business.

According to the Texarkana Arkansas Police Department (TAPD), officers responded to the 400 block of Hickory Street at 10:15 Wednesday morning, where they found a hand grenade.

Police called the Barksdale Air Force Base Civil Engineer Squadron to collect the device and take it to a safe location, where a controlled explosion was performed.

TAPD says while they believe the grenade was live, it was a training grenade they think may have malfunctioned.

It is unknown who placed the device in the parking lot.
