This law, along with the "speed impeding law" are two laws that were passed in high numbers, but enforced in low numbers. If someone is in the left lane of the interstate doing 60, not passing anyone and tying up a long line of traffic, they should be fined. These women putting on make up or doing their hair while driving, fine them. If we are going to spend tax money passing a law, enforce it or dont make the laws.

@Butch54...I agree with you...in order for people to take this seriously we need to add a high dollar fine if you are caught and given a ticket. I had a close friend of mine that was hit from behind on the freeway during rush hour traffic because the other driver was texting. My friend is now in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. This IS a serious matter and no one takes it serious enough unless they have been in a wreck or know someone who has. As long as we have cell phones this will always be a problem. Funny how before cell phone we still managed our lives personally and business. What has this world come too and why don't we take life serious? Slap a fine on those who abuse the right to drive.

I wish they would put jamming devices in cars. Engine running no phone use in it. Then when you say something to one of these fools it's always your fault. I say get their attention. 5000 dollar fine with loss of driving for one year. Double for each time caught.

I was beside a soccer mom in an SUV this week just texting away and got right beside her and just laid on the horn, she jumped, dropped the stupid I-phone, and then looked over, I was laughing so hard with my golf buddy that I knew that is exactly what to do to these phone crazed morons
