NORTH LITTLE ROCK, AR -- If January and July switched temperatures, members at the First Pentecostal Church would more than likely be drenched.

"They were probably experienced and know what they were doing," said Elder Robert Stewart, church administrator at First Pentecostal Church.

Thieves ripped out six A/C units from the power source!

"All of the damage that was done. It had to keep up a lot of noise. I'm surprised nobody would notice it," said Stewart.

The church just celebrated the grand opening of the renovated fellowship hall and it cost thousands to do that. They'll have to spend more to replace the units. It's estimated to cost between $20,000 and $30,000.

The prize in the units is copper.

In the last session, lawmakers passed a bill requiring scrap dealers get information from the seller. But obviously some dealers don't follow the rules or understand them. Last Friday, Pulaski County deputies raided a scrap yard in North Little Rock.

"Whatever that law was it's not serving the purpose it was passed to serve," said Stewart.

Stewart won't wait around on a stricter law. Leaders will install more barriers, but know it could happen again.

"People have no fear in God anymore. The fear of God or the fear of the church.  There's just no fear in man anymore," said Stewart.

If you have any information on the burglaries, call the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.

Trane units do not contain copper? Why is that every Trane unit I have ever seen had copper somewhere in it? There is no way to curb these types of thefts. They pass a law, they enforce the law then the justice system slaps them on the wrist. The government wants to blame it on prison overcrowding, therefore they have to have alternative ways to sentence nn-violent offenders. Screw the entire criminal world. Stack them up like cord wood. Our system does everything it can to make sure the criminals are comfortable, housed, fed, medically treated and everything else. Stop babying them and start treating them like the animals they are.

It's bad enough to steal, but from a house of Worship?? They better hope they don't have "A Damascus Road" experience, but I pray that they do. Who knows, they could just see the error of their ways, repent and ask Jesus for forgiveness. Let's pray Damascus Road experience, Damascus Road experience. :)
