HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE, Ark. (AP) — Cleanup from an April tornado in Hot Springs Village could take up to three years to complete.

The Sentinel-Record reported Tuesday that the Hot Springs Village public works department says cleanup of six zones within the community will take between a year and a half and three years.

The plan calls for all downed trees to be removed and for the removal of trees that are leaning and present a safety hazard. The work in the zones will be done sequentially and each zone will take three to six months for removal to be complete.

Trees being removed will be taken to the local landfill where they eventually will be chipped.

The April storms left widespread damage in Garland County.
