FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) — A judge has scheduled an August trial for a Fort Smith man charged in the death of his estranged wife.

Brent Cotta is charged with first-degree murder in the January death of 24-year-old Cassie Leigh Cotta. He has pleaded not guilty.

Cassie Cotta was reported missing by her mother on New Year's Eve after she didn't show up for work. Authorities say Cotta's husband was arrested Jan. 4 after he led police to her body.

The Southwest Times Record reports that Cotta is scheduled to go to trial the week of Aug. 20 in Sebastian County Circuit Court.
