Yes, he broke the law, and was not punished; does this surprise anyone, considering he is with the State Police? warbs5; I don't have any children; but I can assure you, if someone comes in my home while I'm here, I won't need the police, but the person that breaks in will need the coronor! You can bet on it. There are good cops, and bad cops; just like society in general; there are all kinds ( good and bad ) everywhere. Does everyone remember the Janie Ward murder? The State Police investigated; but found no wrong; of course they didn't; an eyewitness saw a prominent citizen's daughter beating her; but the State Police found nothing; her death was not reported for several hours, her body was taken to a car wash and cleaned, the EMS team was told not to call police; I could go on, but I'm sure all of you see where I'm going. There are those above the law, and then there are the rest of us.

It's nice to see that Law Enforcement takes care of their own. If that had been a regular member of the public, or a regular state employee, they would have been fired. At what is worse, he is sworn to uphold the law he broke, nice just getting a letter. How about an official reprimand and reduction in rank? No, not for one of their own.
