Two Small Earthquakes Detected Near Trumann

One had a magnitude of 3.2 and the second had a magnitude of 2.4.



TRUMANN, AR-- Two small earthquakes have been detected near Trumann.

A 3.2 magnitude earthquake occurred in eastern Arkansas earlier Wednesday afternoon.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), that quake occurred at 2:10 p.m.

The preliminary earthquake report from the USGS says the depth of the quake was 10 kilometers.

The second earthquake had a magnitude of 2.4 and was located about 4 miles southwest of Trumann, 17 miles southeast of Jonesboro.

It occurred shortly after 5:00 p.m.

People in the immediate area might have felt a mild shaking from the two quakes.

The New Madrid seismic zone of southeast Missouri and adjacent States is the most seismically active in North America east of the Rockies, according to USGS.
