Two teens rescued on Lake Maumelle

Two 16-year-olds had to be rescued after trying to “whitewater raft” over the dam at the Lake Maumelle Spillway.
LITTLE ROCK, AR - Two 16-year-olds had to be rescued after trying to “whitewater raft” over the dam at the Lake Maumelle Spillway.

The Little Rock Fire Department says after going over the kids got stuck in a ravine for two hours at the bottom of the spillway. The Swift Water Rescue Team retrieved the teens and they were taken to Arkansas Children’s Hospital for dehydration.

The two in the boat were joined by a third who was at the side of the lake videoing the stunt. Firefighters say the two kids were not wearing life vests, but were wearing helmets.
