LITTLE ROCK, AR - Chandler Barnwell's Facebook page is littered with posts reading 'Everyone's sorry for making fun of you.' But the sentiments come too late for his mother, Anna Barnwell.

"Yes my son was bullied at school. And it was happening probably on a daily basis," said Barnwell.

Chandler Barnwell committed suicide after school on December 7th, 2010.

"I lost my son. He died," said Barnwell. "It's not like somebody picked on him and I came in to complain. They showed me very little respect."

Now, more than two and a half years after her son's suicide, Barnwell is filing a complaint with the Little Rock School District through the U.S. Department of Education saying her son killed himself as a result of bullying that someone reported and the district still allowed.

"When I met with that administration, they basically refused to do any type of investigation involving students or even looking into what had allegedly happened to Chandler his last day of school," said Barnwell.

So now the Feds are taking over. Since it's an ongoing investigation, all the Department of Education can share is someone is investigating the district on two violations of the law: That Chandler was discriminated against due to his sex or gender, and because of his disability. Chandler had Asperger's Syndrome - a form of Autism.

"It makes me feel sick that we turn our children over to these people every day and we can't rely on them to protect them," said Barnwell.

Chandler's mother doesn't plan on stopping the push for further investigations until she knows these students are safe.

"When you lose a child, it changes you. And I'll do whatever I have to do to make sure this doesn't happen in this district again."

The Little Rock School District did not get back to Fox16 with a comment on this investigation but Barnwell tells us she's submitted plenty of evidence and student testimony to the Department of Education and still has more actions to come.

I went to Parkview & graduated from there in 2011. I never noticed any big problems will bullying, it is a very diverse school with all kinds of different people and bullying was never something I noticed was very evident. Other than a lil bit of name-calling, which if you can't handle, I don't know what to tell you. No intense verbal-bullying, and no physical bullying.... Kids these days, smh. I honestly don't believe bullying was something that let to this horrible event.

I am glad someone is finally speaking out about the LRSD, it is so true that they do absolutely nothing about bullying at the school. Not only are the students being bullied by other students, they are sometimes bullied by teachers, and principal... hopefully this opens the door to alot of issue with the district and open up people eyes PARENTS we have to get more involved with our children education and future. Go to the meetings, make unannouced visits, and regular phones calls its the only way things will begin to change. THERE IS POWER IN NUMBERS

I go to Parkview, kids with all kinds of disabilitys get made fun of and mocked during class and teachers do nothing and continue the lesson plan. not to mention I brought it up to an administrator that they'd do something. NO they said "what do you expect us to do, it's their opinion" Sorry, unless they say "it's my opinion that you're a faggot" etc then it's blasaphamy. The little rock school district needs a lesson. I'm bullied as well and I HATE IT THERE

The schools can not have eyes everywhere. It is very sad and tragic that this has led to a death. The schools are not the only one to blame. It is obvious that the person(s) responsible for this young mans death have issues. The blame can be placed in several places. You could say the parents of the person(s) that did this should have talked to and educated their kids better when it comes to this issue. You can blame the other students for not reporting the situation to the administration. You can blame the schools for not doing anything to help educate the kids about this type of thing. A lot of people have done wrong not only in this situation, but there have been others as well.

If it was reported, it should have been dealt with...PERIOD!!!! Good for you mom...make these schools, officials and teachers be held accountable for NOT following through with the complaints! And I promise this...if my child EVER has to deal with bullies, and I find out who they are...I WILL come after their parents! Stop raising brats, people! Seriously!!!

Tired, you said it best. Your last sentence said "its criminal what happened to this poor child". So CALL the police. Don't blame the schools. Did this mother call the police?

the arrogance and self entitlement of teachers is rampant...they see this everyday and are so apethetic they do nothing...and then they wonder why they are paid so little...teacher's have and teach the beauracratic mentality...their all looking for their own little kingdom's to lord over...and it doesn't matter to them who get's hurt in the process of conquering said kingdom...if i am busy and don't see your child getting bullied then ...oh well not my problem...if i don't look (purpously)...i don't have to worry about it...and by the way when was my last raise...teachers...along with other's i could name are ignorant of their complicity and arrogant about that fact...its criminal what happened to this poor child
