LITTLE ROCK, AR -- It's moving day on the UALR campus for the fall semester.

Friday, students who get scholarships for the fall semester moved into their rooms. The process started at 9 Friday morning and continued throughout the day.

Freshman students say they are ready for a new adventure.

"I don't have to live at home with parents, so I am very excited," aid Ericka Henson of Benton.

Also the university will open a new dormitory Saturday called University Village. It was purchased over the summer and remodeled to provide student housing.

University leaders say it is important to have more options available.

"Part of the UALR strategic plan is to enhance community on campus and building more housing is part of that strategic plan," said housing director Debbie Gentry.

The University Village dormitory adds 400 beds to the campus, bringing the total number to 1300.
