LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences says a doctor mistakenly released about 7,000 patient names and information about their illnesses to a company doing a billing analysis.

The teaching hospital said Friday that names, dates of radiological treatment, charges and how much patients paid were supposed to have been stripped from the document before it was transmitted.

UAMS say no Social Security numbers, bank account numbers or credit or debit card numbers were released.

UAMS says the entity that received the data says the patient information wasn't disclosed to anyone and has been destroyed.

Patients whose data was revealed were treated in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

UAMS officials say the doctor who mistakenly released the information is subject to discipline and that additional training is being conducted for employees.

Thanks to your tax money, UAMS employees and doctors lose hundreds of laptops and I-phones each year loaded with patient information on an unsecure email system and they continue to allow these people to exchange patient information with these devices

This is not the first time this has happened. I have a letter from them stating my private info was accidentally released. The letter was several months back and am sure was a different incident. Contact me if you would like to do an investigation on this. How many times does it have to happen befroe charges are brought?
