LITTLE ROCK, AR -- Jefferson County prosecutors charge a 19-year-old University of Arkansas Pine Bluff student with rape.

The victim says it happened Friday in one of the dorms.

The suspect calls it consensual.

To Freshman Denesha Killion, college is more than staying focused in her psychology classes. It's also about knowing your surroundings and the people you interact with.

"You can't really know a person. That's the purpose of getting to know a person," said Killion.

She brushes up on those safety skills even more after a fellow female student claimed Alton Taylor raped her Friday inside this co-ed dorm.

Taylor told investigators the sex was consensual.

"You don't let your guards down because there are so many who don't have their best interest at heart," said Rita Ticey, the campus' female dorm administrator.

Ticey said each week, the ladies attend sessions to go over things like walking in groups and telling someone your whereabouts.  Dorm administrators require the ladies to be in their dorm by eleven!

"They never get it all but hopefully there are times we feel like we reached them," said Ticey.

Dorm administrators want the students to learn those skills now and continue to use them them when they go to the other dorms and even when they leave campus.

Killion says the constant security checks in her dorm can be overwhelming but it's worth it.

"You just have to really be careful and keep your guard up, which is what the campus encourages us to do," said Killion.
