Especially when some of our lawmakers are arrested for DWI's. Hear that Herb Rule? Accidents on the road that take a child's life don't always involve drinking either. Had a supervisor once who lost a child. He was riding with a couple of others on a rural highway. A woman topped a hill, the sun was in her eyes, and she didn't see the boys in the road. Don't misunderstand me; this guy should pay for drinking and driving, and killing someone while doing so; but all the blame can't be put on him. As one local news program pointed out - it's illegal for a 12 year old to ride an ATV, and it's illegal to ride an ATV on the road. According to the newscaster anyway.

There will be many more deaths by drunk drivers until our state politicians start taking drunk driving seriously and pass real laws, not just a slap on the wrist as they do now, someone has to die before any real punishment is considered. Of course our liberal lawmakers will never do anything as they fear losing a few votes.

unowho; didn't read the middle of my post? Yes, the driver that had been drinking is the main cause of this accident ( maybe ). Dad let the grandkids ride on the ATV's all the time. When young ones are on one, they are having fun, and not paying attention to what's around them. There is a reason for them not being allowed on the roads, regardless of age. They do not respond as well to the driver's commands as a vehicle designed for the road does, children are so involved in having fun, they don't pay attention to what's around them, they are not meant for road or highway use. Sober drivers have struck and killed peope riding on or near roads on ATV's; who's fault is it then? I AM NOT defending the driver in this case; but the blame doesn't rest on one person here.

Lets not forget that a child here lost their life and that their parents are suffering. Also we are talking Arkansas not california When I moved here we all had respect for each other on the road people waved at each other while passing by,stop if somebody was at the side of the road. The major wrong here is that NO ONE who is DRINKING should be driving... not about atv had it been a bike, car walking would you still gripe about the childs age?dont lose the main focus her guys....

The crime scene appears to be in the road. ATV's are not supposed to be in the road; the ones we've owned for raising cattle did not have rear lights, turn signals, or brake lights. I feel for the family; no one should have to go through losing a child; but yes, there is plenty of blame to go around. Parents should not allow their children to ride on roads, or near them. Stick to the pastures and woods.

the only person to blame is the idiot who ran him over. My heart goes out to the family. FJM347, God forbid a kid is out doing something other than sitting inside playing video games..We don't need anymore laws...there are laws against drinking and driving, there just needs to be harsher penalties and if you kill someone while drinking and driving, the murderer should be given a life sentence...That might make someone think twice before driving drunk..

RURAL KIDS drive tractors and trucks....cars and atvs....at his age....always have. This is a tragedy and maybe some parents will be more particular about what and where they allow their kids to drive. God Bless this family

I was at the Honda place picking up some parts for a friend. I saw a youth ATV in there and I believe is said no one under 12. I even took a picture of a small dirt bike with training wheels on it. My son told me I better not show it to my grandson. I guess they make them for younger children now. My son got a Yamaha 80 Moto-4 when he was 6. It was a nightmare. So sorry for the family and this youth. The drunk driver shouldn't have been driving at all. The buddy that got out should have never let him drive. The people that let him leave where ever he was shouldn't have let the drunk leave. FJM there is plenty of wrong to go around in this one.
