A three member crew of a medical helicopter were killed in a fiery crash in Van Buren County. The helicopter went down around 4:00 Tuesday morning.
Based in Vilonia, the chopper and crew planned to pick up a car crash victim in Alread. It went down near Scotland in Van Buren County.
Pilot Kenneth Robertson, flight nurse Kenneth Meyer, Jr., and flight paramedic Gayla Gregory all died. Investigators are still on the scene.
All that's left from an early morning helicopter crash is burned up pieces of metal and rubble, none of it recognizable. Now NTSB investigators are starting to recover what's left of the wreckage.
Investigators say it is a tedious process trying to figure out what went wrong. It could take several months, but investigators hope to have a preliminary cause of the crash in just a few days. Right now they're not speculating the cause of the crash. They say are seeing too much of crashes like this.
For now the field will remain roped off, undisturbed for investigators so they can reconstruct the crash.
