UPDATE: I-40 EB reopened

LITTLE ROCK, AR – Multiple accidents shut down I-40 eastbound near the White River Bridge for about 4 hours Thursday evening.

The Arkansas State Highway and Transportation Department diverted traffic onto Highway 70 at Hazen.

Arkansas State Police say there were 3 accidents. The severity of the accidents is unknown.

A viewer driving westbound tells Fox 16 that multiple 18-wheelers were involved in the accidents. Another viewer says traffic was backed up for about 10 miles.
